We asked the owner of a Scottsdale, AZ home cleaning service for some tips on starting your own business.
I found myself in the situation where I was a full-time working mother to four daughters, with a husband who ran his own business away from home, working all hours of the day. In addition to my full time nursing career working different shifts including night-duty, and juggling my children’s after-school activities, I was also solely responsible for the running of my household. As you can imagine, I needed to make sure I was very organised and used my time to its greatest advantage.
In the hospital where I worked, cleaning was obviously of paramount importance, but it was the thing that everyone hated. There was no satisfaction in the cleaning, and yet we all knew it had to be done.
My husband and I also own a number of investment properties, which needed cleaning every time a tenancy ended. Again, we felt that this was something we should be doing ourselves, but was a time-consuming chore which no-one enjoyed.
I started to ask myself the question of WHY we didn’t enjoy the cleaning, and whether there was anything we could do to make it easier, less time-consuming and more satisfying.
I started investigating different methods of cleaning, different cleaning products and the techniques that were the most efficient, and that’s how I learned a great number of house cleaning tips that I feel I should share with you.
In 2006, John and I started Scottsdale Fresh Maid, which is going from strength to strength. We have shared many of our house cleaning tips with both our clients and our cleaners, and now we would like to bring them to a wider audience.
